Break Free From the Norm
Are you one of those people that dreads every morning waking up and going to a job that you hate? Are you scared of one day walking in the office to find out that you just lost your position? Every day there are a multitude of people who have those same thoughts that decide to take control of their future and set out on a path of freedom. Here are 10 work from home jobs to help you ditch the 9-5 and break free from the norm.
If you have a knack for writing then maybe starting a blog is for you. It is inexpensive to start and you have to freedom to work when you want and where you want. While blogging is not a get rich quick job, it does have the potential to earn a very nice paycheck. With hard work and dedication it is possible to bring in over $100,000 a month.
The first thing you need to do before starting a blog is determine what niche you will be writing about.
This can be anything from life experiences, hobbies, your favorite music, food related, or anything else you are passionate about. Remember your blog is where you can convey your thoughts and emotions on the topic you are writing about, the more passionate you are about the topic, the easier it will be to write articles on the subject.
Next would be to choose a name for your site.
When naming your blog you need something that is easy to remember and draws peoples attention. The name is the main branding of your site. When naming your site it should be short, catchy, and easy to pronounce. Also you don't want to use characters that make it hard to type in the address. Some bloggers opt to use their first and last name or a combination of both to name their blog.
If you are unable to come up with a name there are tons of name generators on the internet free to use. Just enter a few keywords into their generator and it will help you come up with a name. After you have the name you would like, search on a domain checker to make sure that the name is available.
Find a host for your blog.
After coming up with a name, now you need to decide where your blog will be parked at.
Some of the more popular hosting sites in no particular order are:
Each hosting site is different and has their own pros and cons. I suggest looking at as many sites as you can before making a choice. You don't want to pick the first hosting site you come to and realize that they do not have the tools or options you need.
2. Freelance Writer
If blogging isn't for you, but you still want to put your writing skills to use, consider becoming a freelance writer. Freelance writers are self employed writers who contract themselves out. They can decide what they want to write and who they want to write for. Freelancing is great for self motivated people, since you are contracted out and most of the organizations you are writing for will have a deadline for articles. Two places you get go to get started in becoming a freelance is Fiverr.com and Upwork.com. Both sites are great for beginners to get their name out there and build up a portfolio.
3. Social Media Manager
Are you good at creating engaging content and growing audiences? If so perhaps this is your ticket out of the 9-5 rat race. Businesses and corporations rely on social media more than ever right now. Many of them hire remote social media managers to take care of their online branding and marketing campaigns. You also oversee the interactions between the organization and the customer.
4. E-Commerce Store
More and more people are decided against going to the store to make purchases. This brings in more opportunities for e-commerce stores to thrive. There are several ways to enter this business. Some of the ways are to create your own website and begin either selling homemade goods, dropshipping products, or joining a print-on-demand site. Another way to start selling now is join a marketplace like Etsy.com and selling on their site. There are pros and cons to both systems. I would suggest researching and determining what would be best for you.
5. Affiliate Marketing
An affiliate marketer earns a commission for marketing another companies products or services. Many "affiliate marketing gurus" try to tell you to just create this website and promote this product to make millions of dollars. Other "gurus" tell you that if you buy their course, that you are guaranteed to succeed. These courses they sale can be in the thousands of dollars and at the end you have nothing to show. That is not how affiliate marketing works. Affiliate marketing takes a lot of work to succeed. You have to pick the right products, create engaging sales funnels, and drive traffic to your site. More importantly you want to promote products that people can believe trust in and build a relationship with the customer. To be honest it can be extremely stressful trying to succeed on your own in affiliate marketing. That is why I suggest joining a team and learning the right way to promote and succeed.
